Getting Here and Around

Getting to Cluj-Napoca is easy due to its position and its status as a major Romanian city. You can arrive here by train, by plane or by car.

There are direct train connections to and from most Romanian cities and, also, Budapest. The average trip from Cluj to Bucharest or Budapest is around 8 hours. You can plan your trip by train here.

The International Airport of Cluj-Napoca has also direct flights connecting with many European cities. The Airport of Cluj-Napoca has transport connections to downtown Cluj-Napoca either by bus or by taxi. The airport is within Cluj-Napoca city limits and extra-urban charges should not be applied.
For budget European travellers, a cheap alternative is to fly to Budapest Ferihegy Airport with a low-cost company, and then shuttle to Cluj-Napoca. The shuttle takes six to eight hours to make the travel.

For getting arround the town or the metropolitan area, you can use either the public transportation or the taxi. Taxis are relatively more expensive than in other parts of Romania, but still cheap by European levels.
